EPISODE ONE: SEAFOOD CITY
The premiere episode of The Grocery List Show kicks off at the vibrant Filipino Supermarket chain Seafood City’s Chicago location. Host Chrissy Camba speaks with local Filipino gastronomy advocate, Natalia Roxas, before gathering ingredients for a crab torta feast cooked in Chrissy’s home.
EPISODE TWO: BALADY HALAL MARKET
Chrissy visits Balady Market in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, a vibrant, culturally rich Middle Eastern neighborhood. There, she meets the three brothers who run the store together: Essa, Mosa, and Abraham. Later, Chrissy is invited into the home of Ferial Masoud, the matriarch and co-founder of Balady, to cook the traditional Palestinian-Jordanian dish mansaf together.
EPISODE THREE: LABAY MARKET
Chrissy visits Labay Market, a beloved Caribbean grocery store located in the heart of Little Caribbean, Brooklyn. Owned and operated by MacDonald “Big Mac” Romaine, a proud Grenadian from the island of Carriacou. Chrissy then meets Onicka Rubin, one of the magnificent cooks at the store. Together, they prepare the iconic National Grenadian dish oil down for Labay’s Customer Appreciation Day.
EPISODE FOUR: PICCOLO’S GASTRONOMIA ITALIANA
Chrissy visits Piccolo’s Gastronomia Italiana in Ridgefield, New Jersey, a beloved, family-run Italian grocery store that has been a community staple since 1994. There she meets Nancy, the daughter of Italian immigrants and the heart of the business. Together in Nancy’s home kitchen the two prepare a puttanesca-style sauce infused with memories of Nancy’s father’s Northern Italian cooking.
EPISODE FIVE: LA PLACITA DE BROOKLYN
In the final episode of The Grocery List Show Chrissy joins Vinny Sánchez, creator and host of the YouTube channel Vinny Eat World, for a grocery haul at La Placita de Brooklyn. La Placita is a neighborhood market serving the growing Latino community in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Chrissy then visits Vinny and his family at home, where he shares his version of garnachas, a dish passed down from his Mexican grandfather, adapted through his Mexican-American lens.
